Will you work for a restoration of federal job training funding to the 1983 level which was $20 million for Pima County? Will you seek to ensure that part of this funding supports local innovative initiatives like JobPath?

Children’s Health
In 2007, the Congress and the Bush Administration reached a compromise to maintain current enrollment in SCHIP, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. If elected, will you vote in next year’s Congressional session to expand SCHIP to cover more uninsured children by increasing federal funding?

Federal support for local initiatives including Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Weed and Seed, grants for hiring local police officers and youth employment has declined sharply over the last 8 years. Will you work with PCIC and our local governments and allied organizations to reverse this disturbing trend and invest in initiatives designed by the people closest to the impacted families?
