PCIC PROMOTES "PATHWAYS FOR FAMILIES" AGENDA TO TUCSON CITY COUNCIL

"PCIC has long been a partner with the City Council in developing concrete action plans for the City of Tucson. Today, we will present to you key strategies for economic development which are part of our ongoing action agenda. Some of these strategies are long time successful initiatives supported by PCIC . We have also adopted newer issue areas that are innovative ways of responding to the needs of our constituency: families.

Our presentation today includes:

Each of these strategies involve deep collaboration with other institutions in the community, including Pima Community College, Sunnyside, Tucson Unified, and Amphitheater School Districts, the business community, and the city itself.

When we have concluded our presentation, weíd like to engage in open conversation and consideration of our proposals, to consider how to implement, collaboratively, successful and much needed strategies for economic and human development in Tucson.

In the context of todayís economic downturn, many municipalities across the country are focused on how they can merely stay afloat. We urge you not to fall into this trap of seeing economic recession as an excuse for government retreat. Because we truly believe that Tucson is poised to do more than just carry on. We have the potential to be a Great American city.
