Last night, PCC Chancellor Lee Lambert asked PCIC for our support of his efforts to turn PCC around. Folks from Scholarships A-Z, the New Leaders Group, adult education and many of the 30 PCIC institutions pledged to work with the college and help find a good new member of the PCC board and supporters at the state level for education on Sept. 28th. In discussing his presentation among ourselves afterward, what struck us was his commitment to those at the bottom of the educational ladder who were generally discouraged from attending Pima for a while. 60 clergy and religious leaders met with Bishops Kicanas (Catholic), Smith (Episcopal), and Talmage (Lutheran). They and Bishop Hoshibata (Methodist) wrote letters to their new and recently transferred clergy to invite them to learn about institutional broad-based organizing. UCC and UU clergy attended as well. The response was impressive and now many will be attending our upcoming 3-day and 5-day trainings . . . and taking part on Sept. 28th. They all want to put their faith into action for the common good. See our Facebook page for full photo album.
