Arizona’s Expansion of Medicaid in 2013 was a hard-fought achievement for Pima County Interfaith and Arizona Interfaith. It brought healthcare, through AHCCS, to hundreds of thousands of Arizonans who really need it.
One of them is Linda Victoria who works for us a few hours a month managing our online presence. After years of debilitating pain and unable to afford adequate health insurance, she just had her hip replaced thanks to Medicaid Expansion.
Last week, Congress introduced the American Healthcare Act. Many features of this Health Insurance overhaul are bad for Arizona:
- Ends Medicaid Expansion: 380,000 people stand to lose coverage in Arizona.
- Makes health insurance more expensive, especially for older Arizonans.
- Minimizes protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
- Gives tax breaks to the wealthy and pharmaceutical companies.
