Parish IDs Protect Vulnerable Parishioners

Close to 130 people attended the Parish ID orientation on May 16.

Parish IDs are a form of identification that give a sense of belonging and community to members of our parish communities who lack documents. They are non-governmental documents that enable people who have no other forms of identification to approach the police. The Tucson Police and Pima County Sheriff Departments have stated that they are wiling to recognize the Parish IDs as an acceptable form of identification.

At present, many parishioners who lack documents avoid reporting crimes they may have witnessed because they don't have a way to prove their identity.

Parish IDs will not only empower vulnerable members of our communities to report crime, but they will also help the police ensure the safety of all people in Pima County.

The parishes involved in the Parish ID program include Our Lady Queen of All Saints, St John's, St Pius, Saints Monica's, Our Mother of Sorrows, St Joseph, St Augustine Cathedral, Sacred Heart, St Cyril's, St Margaret's.

Important Dates

PCI is currently holding several orientations. The next orientation will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at 6 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Come to the orientation to learn more about the Parish IDs.
